Kanha National Park :

  • It was Kanha that inspired Rudyard Kipling to author ‘The Jungle Book’.
  • Kanha National Park is spread across 2051 sq km.
  • Kanha is also home to the barasingha, an endangered species of deer only found in India.
  • Other animals regularly sighted include chital, gaur, three-striped palm squirrel, common langur, jackal, wild pig, blackbuck, hyena, leopard, mouse deer, porcupine, chinkara, sambar, and ant-eating pangolin.

Ranthambore National Park :

Placed right in the heart of the most popular tourism circuit of the Golden Triangle (New Delhi, Jaipur, and Agra), this park provides the easiest reach if you wish to include Tigers in your program.

When is the best season to see Tigers in India?

Other than the tiger itself, the climate and temperature can decide when can you see a tiger while on tiger safaris in India.

  • The tiger reserves are usually closed during the monsoon season, from July till the start of October.
  • November until March is great with chilling morning safaris in winters. In the afternoon, the temperature goes to mid-20 degrees.
  • March to June in most tiger watching regions are extremely hot but is a great time for sightings as tigers come out of the forests to find water. But with temperatures in the mid-40s.
  • You can avoid the crowd in the holiday season in India. Big ones include 26 January for Republic Day and Diwali which falls in October or November.
  • The temperature will slowly rise from March till Monsoon.
