Kanha, Pench and Tadoba Tiger Safari Tour
11 Nights / 12 Days
Trip Highlights & Overview
Central India Tiger Safari Tour
This immersive journey through India’s most iconic tiger landscapes is designed as a deep, sensory wildlife experience rather than just a safari holiday. From the moment you step into the forests of central India, the rhythm of the wilderness begins to shape each day—early mornings filled with birdsong, mist rising from grasslands, and the anticipation of encounters with elusive big cats.
Across legendary reserves like Tadoba, Pench, and Kanha, you experience the raw drama of the jungle at dawn and dusk, when predators and prey are most active. Each safari unfolds differently—sometimes driven by alarm calls echoing through sal forests, sometimes by quiet patience near waterholes where life gathers in the heat of the day. Tigers remain the undeniable stars, but the forests reveal far more: leopards slipping through shadows, wild dogs on coordinated hunts, massive gaurs grazing in clearings, and sloth bears ambling through undergrowth.

Detailed Itinerary
Central India Tiger Safari Tour
Day 1: Arrive in New Delhi
Day 2: New Delhi – Nagpur – Tadoba (flight + 110 kms/2 hrs. drive)
Post breakfast, transferred to airport to board a flight to Nagpur. Upon arrival at Nagpur Inter-national Airport, our representative will drive you to Tadoba National Park (110 kms / 2-hour).
Once you reach your destination, the lodge team will warmly welcome you and assist with the check-in process. A team member will provide an orientation about both the lodge and the Tiger Reserve. After a quick lunch, head for your first afternoon safari in the park. Overnight in Tadoba.
Day 3: In Tadoba National Park
Awaken early and relish a cup of tea or coffee accompanied by biscuits before embarking on the morning safari in the reserve.
The morning safari provides ample time to explore a substantial area, increasing the chances of encountering tigers. Even if tiger sightings are not immediate in the morning, your guide and drivers gain insights into the whereabouts of the tigers, aiding in tracking them during the evening safari.
Enjoy a breakfast served at designated spots, surrounded by the beauty of the natural landscape during the safari. The name Tadoba has its roots in a king named Taru, who, as per local beliefs, met his demise at the hands of a tiger and was subsequently deified by the tribals. In his honor, the tribals established a shrine, which remains a pilgrimage site for the local community.
The habitat of these two protected areas is marked by Southern Tropical Dry Deciduous Forest interspersed with numerous expansive meadows. This habitat fosters a rich herbivore prey density, creating an optimal environment for the presence of large cats. Return to the lodge after the safari, take some time to relax, have lunch, and then prepare for another safari in the land of the tiger.
After an evening safari, upon your return to the lodge, you may have a long checklist of sightings that you wish to cross-check and discuss with other naturalists and fellow guests. Engage in discussions about the various birds and animals you encountered during the safari and listen to the experiences and observations shared by others. This post-safari discussion can be an enriching and enjoyable way to reflect on the diverse wildlife encountered in the reserve. All meals and overnight at the lodge.
Day 4: In Tadoba National Park
Another day unfolds with both morning and afternoon safaris. Tadoba showcases extensive biodiversity, featuring a diverse range of species. The reserve is home to 28 mammal species, 255 bird species, 30 reptile species, 5 amphibian species, 26 spider species, and 70 insect species. In the realm of flora, Tadoba supports 705 plant species, including 333 herbs, 112 trees, and 76 grass species.
Prominent mammalian species dwelling in Tadoba include the Tiger, Leopard, Indian Wild Dog, Leopard Cat, Gaur, Sambar, Chital, Barking Deer, Wild Boar, Sloth Bear, Four-horned Antelope, Indian Giant Squirrel, and Common Langur. The reserve’s diverse biodiversity transforms it into a sanctuary not only for tigers but also for a myriad of wildlife, offering a gratifying experience for nature enthusiasts and wildlife aficionados.
Day 5: Tadoba – Pench (220 km 5 hrs. drive)
Prepare for your final morning safari in this reserve and make the most of it, concluding with a relaxed and thoroughly enjoyable experience. Aim to deepen your understanding of the intricate web of life within the forest ecosystem. Seek further insight into the jungle experience and enhance your knowledge about the diverse flora and fauna that characterize this forest in central India.
Post lunch, transfer to Pench National Park 220 kms/ 5-hour drive. Upon your arrival at the lodge, the staff will assist you with the check-in process, and by that time, your luggage will have already been transferred to your room. Spend the rest of the evening at your leisure. Overnight at lodge in Pench.
Day 6 - 7: In Pench National Park
Rise and prepare for your morning safari, tea and coffee will be served at the lodge. Your safari vehicle will carry breakfast, which will be provided within the reserve. The crisp morning breeze in the reserve brings a sense of freshness. Be on the lookout for the king of the jungle, who becomes more active at both dusk and dawn. However, don’t forget to spot the other inhabitants of the forest, as the jungle is particularly active in the morning. Birds and other animals become lively with the first rays of the sun.
In the Pench Tiger Reserve, a network of seasonal streams and nullahs intricately traverses the region. By the end of April, the Pench River typically dries up, leaving behind several pools, locally referred to as dohs, which serve as crucial waterholes for wildlife.
While most water sources cease during the summer, a few perennial springs persist in the area. Notably, the Pench Reservoir, located at the heart of the reserve, serves as the primary water source during the scorching summer months. The primary forest type within the Pench Tiger Reserve is the Southern Tropical Dry Deciduous Forest, predominantly characterized by Teak as the major tree species, accompanied by various other flora.
Return to the lodge, and after lunch, take some time to relax before gearing up for your next adventure. Dinner and overnight in the lodge in Pench
Day 8: Pench – Kanha (210 kms/4 – 5 hrs. drive)
Morning jeep safari to the national park. After lunch drive to Kanha National Park 210 kms/ 4-5-hour drive. On arrival check into the lodge. Dinner and overnight at the lodge in Kanha.
Day 9: In Kanha National Park
Begin your day with an early start, sipping on coffee or tea accompanied by cookies or fruits, and venture out for a morning safari before the sun graces the horizon. At the reserve gate, your naturalist will recommend an early departure from the lodge, ensuring you are among the first few vehicles to enter the reserve, maximizing your chances of encountering Tigers and other wildlife.
During the safari, if there is limited movement on the trail, the vehicle will pause, allowing you to immerse yourself in the sounds of the forest. This is when the forest reveals its story, with birds such as jungle babblers, parakeets, racket tailed drongo, grey francolin, and peacocks calling from various directions. Alarm calls from herbivores like spotted deer, sambar, and barasingha (Swamp Deer) may lead you to predators in the vicinity. Your naturalist will skillfully help you identify different animal calls.
After nearly 4 hours of safari, return to the lodge, where the team awaits with wet towels and refreshing drinks to welcome you back. Reflect on your moments within the reserve. Following lunch, prepare for the afternoon safari. As you enter the reserve, keep an eye out for signs and tracks, and visit waterholes where animals gather due to the ease of water access in the heat of the day.
Return from the safari by sunset. In the evening, gather to relish the moments spent within the reserve. Your naturalist will share insights into animal behavior and recount stories that may not have been conveyed earlier. Cherish the magic of the wilderness as you conclude your day. Dinner and overnight will be at the lodge in Kanha.
Day 10: In Kanha National Park
Embark on your day with an early start before sunrise, setting out for a morning safari within the Tiger Reserve. As you navigate through the heart of the forest, the naturalist will provide a packed breakfast at a scenic point in the open, atop a jeep bonnet. After enjoying your breakfast, continue the exploration, searching for wildlife amidst the lush surroundings.
Kanha boasts a rich diversity of approximately 35 mammal species, including key inhabitants like the Bengal tiger, Indian leopard, dhole, sloth bear, Bengal fox, Indian jackal, and more. The hardground Barasingha, a subspecies found only in this reserve is adapted to marshy habitats, thrives in the reserve’s grasslands, while the gaur finds refuge around waterholes. In the Kanha Meadows zone, blackbucks are concentrated, adding to the reserve’s diverse mammalian population.
The avian residents of Kanha add to its allure, with more than 300 different bird species gracing the reserve. Notable sightings include the black ibis, Asian green bee-eater, cattle egret, blossom-headed parakeet, Indian pond heron, drongo, common teal, crested serpent eagle, Indian roller, lesser adjutant, little grebe, lesser whistling teal, minivet, Malabar pied hornbill, woodpeckers, pigeons, paradise flycatcher, and many more. Immerse yourself in the vibrant birdlife that paints the skies of Kanha. Dinner and overnight at the lodge in Kanha Tiger Reserve. Post a quick lunch, head for your afternoon safari in the park. Dinner and overnight at the lodge in Kanha.
Day 11: Kanha – Raipur – New Delhi (240 kms, 4-hour drive + Flight)
Prepare for your final safari in this reserve and make the most of it, concluding with a relaxed and thoroughly enjoyable experience. Aim to deepen your understanding of the intricate web of life within the forest ecosystem. Seek further insight into the jungle experience and enhance your knowledge about the diverse flora and fauna that characterize this forest in central India.

Posted on SkippinWorkVerified Fabulous Three-Week Trip! Nature Safari India planned an almost three-week trip for my husband and me focused on seeing tigers, birds, and the Taj Mahal. Everything went very smoothly, from being picked up at the airport at 3:30 am to being dropped back off at the airport at midnight (for a 3:30 am flight out). All of our arrangements were made by Nature Safari, including our drivers, guides, and hotels. We had a primary driver, Nagy, who was amazing and kept us plied with water, Diet Cokes and snacks, for our many hours of driving between major locations. Let's just say that driving in Delhi and the surrounding areas was its own adventure! And at each location, all arrangements had been made for guides and drivers - who were great! They developed an itinerary that included major birding areas within a few hours of Delhi, as well tiger safaris in Ranthambore and Jim Corbett. Of course, we had to see the Taj Mahal, and I was surprised as how much I enjoyed the visit in Agra - thanks to our amazing guide there who made the visit come alive with stories and fun photos. The proposed itinerary included all of the hotels with links to their websites so we could check them out, and advise if we wanted different hotels -- but we stayed in all of the recommended hotels, and they were great! Definitely recommend!Posted on HappyGalSingaporeVerified Beyond my expectations! Great trip I had the most wonderful trip to Pench, Kanha and Bandhavgarh (12 days total). As a solo traveler, Sharad and team took great care of everything to make me feel secured and comfortable. Their professionalism and warmth, efficiency and care made it so special. Very impressed with how everything was organised, from the start to the end, the texts to check in on me, the snacks in the comfortable cars, the safari jeeps with nice padded cushioning, the expert naturalist guides, the excellent lodges and their friendly accommodating staff... I am so lucky to have chanced upon Nature Safari India! The forests are amazing, wildlife is in abundance, and the naturalist guides at all 3 parks were fantastic and so knowledgeable. There were many unforgettable tiger, leopard and dhole experiences! I wanted to work directly with a local Indian company, and yes they certainly delivered beyond my expectations. Truly grateful for a memorable safari.Posted on Sebastian SVerified Fantastic birds, tigers and Taj tour Amazing experience from start to finish. I did a Togers, Taj Mahal and Birdwatching safari in northern Inidia through this company and would highly recommend it for anyone with a strong passion for wildlife and even a bit of culture. From the very beginning the communication was excellent primarily through Ishana Vats. The locations that were chosen to visit were great and everything flowed seemlessly and was very well organised. Thank you for the trip of a lifetime!Posted on judy kVerified A trip of a lifetime Fellow travelers on a Natural Habitat trip to the Pantanal told us about their trip to India with Nature Safari India. That led to my correspondence with Ishana Vats who booked the Corbett, Kanha, and Bandhavgarh tiger tour for me, my husband and our adult son. Ishana helped me every step of the way and answered all my questions quickly by email. The information she provided about the trip and guidance on getting the VISAs, etc, was great. Arriving in India, I had full confidence that the trip would go smoothly and it did! It was a fantastic trip, we loved all the parks, but our favorite was Corbett. Although it was cold and the accommodations were basic, being able to stay in the park, overlooking the river and surrounded by the entertaining macaques was truly special. I am already thinking of going back to India for the Tigers of Terai and Rhino Tour.Posted on WayneVerified Fantastic culture and wildlife provider Fantastic local operator for both cultural and wildlife tour needs in India, highly experienced working with photographers as well as visitors of all kinds. We greatly enjoyed our tour combining a rapid ~4d spin through the golden triangle and ~5d in central India for wildlife, planned with the help of Sharad and the front office. Highly recommend this company for photographers and would seek to travel with them again next time we are in India. (Pardon low quality phone pictures and lack of wildlife photos – parks recently implemented a no-phone policy inside park grounds) // Additional details and comments: Pre-trip: planning, customization, and booking was frictionless -- it was easy to work with the front office. Sharad and team quickly adapted to our preferences and needs and demonstrated a clear understanding of what mattered most for us. City tour portion of the trip: transfers went off without a hitch, with a highly consistent level of service and SUV vehicle. Our driver Surindar was highly professional and took us anywhere we wanted to go during the four days. He did a great job of ensuring we were well taken care of and made sure we hit all of the key spots we wanted to see. Local guides in each city were all fantastic as well, both in the level of service they provided each guest but also their knowledge and customization to our preferences. Safari portion of the trip: Both Pench and Kanha were great experiences and the lodging was excellent, particularly at Meru Vann their in-house lodge. Specifically for photographers, the drivers / naturalists are great at positioning for lighting and correct angles, highly observant to know when to stop / cut engine often based just on non-verbal cues (which saves so much time and helps to capture the fleeting moments), and had sufficiently deep understanding of wildlife behaviors to predict next steps. We appreciated Mahesh's and Subash's unrelenting drive to make the most of every minute of our day -- they were alert and trying their best to spot and track up until the last second our vehicle exited the park. Posted on Hanna BVerified Snow Leopards and Himalayas Snow Leopard Expedition - totally beyond expectations. Everything was so well organized and perfect. We’ve seen 3 Snów Leopards including mother and cub - all with very respectful distance. Our main spotter Morup was just incredible! Highly recommend this trip to all true wildlife enthusiasts.Posted on Phil BVerified Wish I could give more than 5 Stars!! Five stars doesn’t feel like enough for Nature Safari India. I travel the world specifically for wildlife adventures, and I can say without hesitation that this was one of the most professionally run and genuinely passionate teams I’ve ever worked with. First, my guide Sanjay Gupta was absolutely extraordinary. He worked LONG days and never once showed fatigue or loss of focus. From the first light drives to the final moments in the park, he was completely locked in, scanning every movement, every alarm call, every subtle sign in the forest. It was so obvious how deeply he loves wildlife. He was always more than on time, full of energy, and relentlessly determined to give me the best possible chance to see and photograph tigers. We explored every corner of the park. He eagerly adapted to whatever I wanted to try to photograph and was always accommodating. Sanjay truly stands out as one of the best. On the planning side, Pratim Borah was equally world class. Long-haul wildlife trips are complicated (multiple flights, tight connections, permits, park logistics) and I was flying over 35 hours to get there. Pratim made the entire process seamless. He responded incredibly fast every single time, handled changes to my itinerary with ease, and maintained such a kind, helpful, professional attitude no matter how many questions I threw at him. That level of responsiveness and care is rare. World-class service. World-class experience. Most importantly, world-class people. If you’re considering a wildlife safari in India, I could not recommend Nature Safari India more highly!!Posted on SandtravlrVerified Amazing, Incredible and Wonderful Experience We first heard about Nature Safari India from an Indian family while on Safari in Tanzania during the great migration in 2024. After returning from that trip, I contacted Nature Safari and from the first contact to our goodbye in Dehli everything was seamless and professional throughout the entire process. We especially wanted to thank Ishana and Neerjara for all their help and coordination throughout. We visited three national parks and did 16 safaris. We went to Jim Corbett first and stayed inside the park at Dikalha. The accommodations were basic as was the food served and we knew that going in so there were no surprises. Our naturalist VJ led us to 5 different tiger sightings. The park was beautiful, but cold in the mornings. We then went to Kanha and stayed at Meru Vann where the accommodations were beautiful, and the chef prepared great meals throughout our stay. Our naturalist Sanjay led us to a huge variety of animals and one incredible tiger sighting. We then went to Bandhavgarh where our treehouse hideaway accommodations were also beautiful with excellent food provided. Our naturalist Raghu was incredible. He led us to six different tiger sightings, several of which we were only one of two jeeps during the sightings. His skill and patience really paid off when most other jeeps had moved on to other locations. Our itinerary involved several internal flights and a number of drives lasting 6 hours. We enjoyed these drives immensely as we got to see life in rural India where we encountered very few foreign tourists. All the drivers provided by Nature Safari were excellent drivers and plenty of water and snacks were available on each drive. Having been on many African safaris we highly recommend Nature Safari India. Our experience could not have been any better or more satisfying.Posted on Explore19038516752Verified Tiger safari in Pench and Tadoba park Amazing experience from start to finish. Thanks to Neeraja and Nature Safari India, we had the incredible opportunity to see an abundance of wildlife while staying in stunning jungle lodges surrounded by nature. We were especially fortunate to see many tigers — a privilege made possible not only by luck, but also by the exceptional skill and dedication of our naturalists. The trip was a perfect blend of relaxation, outstanding food, and unforgettable safari adventures. Truly a seamless and beautifully curated experience.
