A total of 758 Sq. kms of this Southern Indian tropical moist deciduous forest has its extent mingling with the tropical dry deciduous teak. The area is crisscrossed by a number of streams and ‘nallahs’ most of which are seasonal. Though the Pench River dries up in April end, a number of water pools locally known as ‘dohs’ are found which serve as water holes for the wild animals. The Pench Reservoir at the center of the park is the only major water source during the pinch period.

As a prey concentration is high along the Pench River, tiger usually inhabits and frequents this belt. Leopards though generally operate in the peripheral areas but are occasionally seen in the deep forest also. Jungle cats are commonly seen. Leopard cats, small Indian civets and palm civets are seen rarely. In Pench, Cheetal, Sambar, are commonly seen grazing on the open sites on roadsides and banks of river & reservoir. Jackals can be seen in search of food anywhere in the Park. Packs of upto 15 or more wild dog can be seen near Chhedia, Jamtara, Bodanala and Pyorthadi areas of the Reserve. Herds of gaur can be spotted near streams and bamboo patches commonly in summer months. Sloth beer occupy the rocky areas and favour mahul bel infested forest. Chinkara is present in very small numbers and is found in open areas around Turia, Telia and Dudhgaon villages. Dinner and overnight stay at Pench.

Morning Jeep safari to the National park. After lunch drive to Kanha national park 210 kms/ 4-5-hour drive. On arrival check into the Lodge. Dinner and overnight at the lodge in Kanha.

Kanha is tribal country, and a perfect example of man-animal co-existence. This was the first park from when a village was moved out from the core area of the forest and relocated outside. Subsequently, many other villages were shifted out to give more inviolate space to the tigers. The graceful tribals accepted the generous compensation packages thus creating a haven for tigers in Kanha and it became a win-win situation for tribals and tigers both. Dinner and overnight stay at the resort.

Wake up at 0500hrs, tea coffee with biscuits, and proceed for the morning safari to the National Park.

Kanha’s sal and bamboo forests, rolling grasslands and meandering streams stretch over 940 sq km in dramatic natural splendor which form the core of the Kanha Tiger Reserve created in 1974 under Project Tiger. The park is the only habitat of the rare hardground Barasingha (Cervus Duvaceli Branderi). Tigers of Kanha are known to walk on vehicle tracks. If you are fortunate, you will have a head on sighting of tigers here. Once they get on the track, they will walk for long enough to give you ample opportunities to take some nice images of them. Kanha tigers are known for their exceptional head size, neck girth, and tall at shoulders. They are also quite bold and undeterred by the tourist vehicles.

This is the original Kipling country of which he wrote so vividly in his Jungle Book. Packed breakfast which comes from the Lodge is served at a designated spot and spread on the bonnet of the Safari vehicle. Enjoy your breakfast in the wilderness of Kanha. Continue your search for the elusive Tiger if you have not yet seen the same, and soak in the fresh, and energizing environment. Return from Safari around 1130hrs. Freshen up, and Lunch is served.

Kanha is a flagship national park of India when it comes to successful conservation stories. Hard Ground Barasingha was brought back from the brink of extinction in this very park. The number in 80s were just 60, today they are over 800 roaming freely in the park. Kanha has also assisted in repopulating the Indian Gaur population in Bandhavgarh where they were last seen in 1997. Today over 300 Indian Gaur are present in Bandhavgarh.

Morning Jeep safari to the National park. After lunch drive to Bandhavgarh National Park, 280kms, 6-hour drive. On arrival check into the Lodge. Dinner and overnight at the Lodge.

Bandhavgarh has been a center of human activity and settlement for over 2000 years, and there are references to it in the ancient books, the Narad-Panch Ratra and the Shiva Purana.

The oldest sign of habitation in the park are caves dug into the sandstone to the north of the fort. Several contain Brahmi inscriptions dating from the 1st century B.C. Various dynasties have ruled the fort, for example, the Maghas from the 1st century A.D., the Vakatakas from the 3rd century A.D., From that time onwards Bandhavgarh was ruled by a succession of dynasties including the Chandela Kings Bandhavgarh became more and more deserted until forest overran the area band it became the royal hunting reserve.

This helped to preserve the forest and its wildlife, although the Maharajas made full use of their rights. At independence Bandhavgarh remained the private property of the Maharaja until he gave it to the state for the formation of the National Park in 1968. After the park was created poaching and hunting was brought under control and the number of animals rose dramatically. The Tigers in particular prospered and the 1986 extension provided much needed forest to accommodate them. Overnight at the resort.

Hello Sharad, it is so good to hear that you & your family are all well. The same is true for us. We really enjoyed our snow leopard trip. Deepkul was a terrific guide. All the others did fine jobs as well. Of course, we would like to have seen the snow leopard closer but that is nature. We have no control but we were happy to just see one in the wild. Take care, Chris

Amazing trip with Sanjay into Bhandavgarh. I had an amazing time in Bandhavgarh National Park. The safari company was incredibly accommodating and Ishana was very helpful. My driver, Sanjay, was absolutely phenomenal. Always on time and, as a fellow bird enthusiast, always on the lookout and ready to stop at a moments notice for every bird. The tiger sightings were a dream come true and rhe sheer volume of animals in the park was incredible. Definitely recommend using this company. And highly recommend requesting Sanjay if you are visiting Bandhavgarh.

I came to India for a business trip and spontaneously decided to do a tiger safari over the weekend. The Tiger Safari India team immediately came back to me with different great options and organized the 4-day tour to Ranthambhore national park directly for the upcoming weekend. The whole tour was very well organized - great driver, good hotel, very experienced safari tour guides - and I felt very comfortable during the whole journey. I definitely recommend to visit the Ranthambore national park. Within 4 safari tours I spotted 5 tigers and could enjoy the beautiful flora and fauna. Thank you very much Tiger Safari Team for this amazing tour and experience!!!

Truly magical tree house and safari in Bhandavgarh Awesome holiday! We wanted to do something unique for our daughters 18th birthday. Deepkul was extremely helpful in planning a perfect trip. The best part was the unique tree house and bush dinner that simply turned out to be truly magical. Sanjay safari guide was excellent, prompt and knowledgeable and pulled out his little book promptly to share more details on the wildlife we saw. He brought in Manjith as our guide on the last day who was also extremely experienced. We spotted the entire family- Tigress and her playful 4 cubs. A magnificient experience. Also timely and safe travel by Gulab in Jabalpur. I am really thankful to Deepkul for the well planned holiday, memories that will be forever cherished.
